Fairtrade is something that has become increasingly ‘trendy’ in recent years, but there is a
good reason to support it. If you buy items that carry the ‘Fairtrade’ logo e.g. coffee, it
beams that the farmer who produced the coffee beans has received a basic, set price for his beans.
Often, large multinational companies pay farmers very little for their produce. However, Fairtrade
farmers get a fairer price, and have amore reliable income.
Always try and support local food
producers, but if what you want is not produced locally, try to ensure that it is ‘Fairtrade’.
